Support service

Vinnies is here to help

Get in touch with us to talk about how we can support you

What to expect

When we see you or speak with you, we’ll take down some details. The information gathered helps us to work out what other support we may be able to provide, and to get the right people to support you and your needs. All the information you provide to us is confidential.

If someone in your household, or whanau is struggling, feel free to get in touch as well and we can discuss options.

Please remember, we’re not a crisis service and are unable to provide 24/7 support, and are only reachable during our office hours: 10am-2pm

Featured service

Baby & Kids Assistant

Baby and Kids Assistance provides parents and carers with items needed for children in their care. We operate a choice-based model so you can select the items you feel will best meet the needs of you and your whanau.

Baby assist

We support new parents and carers with clothing and bedding packs for babies aged 0-3 and 3-6 months. Items such as cots, car seats etc can be requested, but cannot guaranteed to be provided.

Kids assist

Kids assist supports local families by providing them with season-appropriate clothing, as well as footwear, toys, games, etc. Guardians & whanau can come into our kids bank to select the needed clothes & items.

Home visitation

Home visitation is one of the oldest services provided by the St Vincent de Paul Society. Our visitors aim to provide support, friendship and material assistance to anyone experiencing loneliness or isolation. This includes everyone from all walks of life.

Our members visit people in their homes, hospitals, rest homes, prisons, or in the community to provide support and friendship, and to establish what other support might be needed.

Food parcels

Vinnies’ food bank exists to support Wellington families and whanau, as well as individuals, who are struggling to put food on the table.

Our conference team gets in touch with anyone who requests food to find out their needs, and to learn a bit more about who is in the household, and what items are required. Dietary and religious food requirements are always accepted and taken into account when food parcels are being made.

Our parcels are made in a dry-food bank and can take roughly 1-3 days to be delivered to you. If you need immediate food assistance, visit Foodbank New Zealand.

Clothes & Goods support

Clothes Support

If you, or someone you know, is wearing broken or has no clothes for the right season, please get in touch and Vinnies may be able to supply proper clothes.

Goods Support

Sometimes, people have to leave their homes with nothing, and Vinnies supports those with empty homes, to fill them. If you are a refugee, migrant or are struggling financially or in social housing, please get in touch about your situation, and we may be able to support you put some furniture and goods in your homes.

Vincentian foundation for the elderly

The Vincentian Foundation for the Elderly aims to improve the welfare of seniors within our communities. The current focus is on providing grants to help fund hearing aids for seniors on low incomes throughout New Zealand.
